Some items—including mattresses, furniture, and appliances—are too large to be accepted for regular curbside collection in Baltimore County. These are known as bulk items.
Baltimore County has launched a residential bulk item collection program. Each single-family home and town home located within Baltimore County boundaries will have two scheduled bulk collections in 2022, with a limit of three bulk items per collection. Residents will not need to call or email the County to request pick-up on a scheduled day.
Mailers have been sent to residents indicating their specific assigned bulk item collection dates. To find their 2024 bulk trash collection dates, residents are asked to consult the mailer or look up their next scheduled bulk collection date on the County’s website after January 1.
Residents who are unable to find their bulk trash collection dates may contact the Bureau of Solid Waste Management at solidwaste@baltimorecountymd.gov or 410-887-2000 to request more information.
Set-Out Instructions
Bulk items should be set out after 6 p.m. on the night before scheduled collection. Residents should set out items at the same location where trash and recycling are normally placed for collection.
In the event of inclement weather, check for collection updates from Baltimore County. If a collection is canceled, make-up collections will usually occur the next business day.

Other Options for Bulk Item Disposal
Private bulk item collectors can be found in the Greater Baltimore yellow pages under the "rubbish and garbage removal" section. Since there are several different versions of phone directories you may also want to search "bulk hauling," "garbage collection," "trash," etc.
County residents may take bulk items to all three Baltimore County drop-off facilities, at no charge. Please note that the County does not offer assistance in unloading these items at the facilities.
You may also wish to consider donating any usable items. The Reuse Directory is a guide to organizations that accept a broad range of donated items including appliances (large and small), beds, building materials, furniture, rugs and more.
