Homicide Victim, 1996
On November 25, 1996, at 3:31 p.m., Baltimore County Police responded to a call for shots fired at the 6000 block of Baltimore National Pike, 21228. Upon their arrival, they found 36-year-old James Baekey, lying in front of the location suffering from a gunshot wound. Baekey was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Baekey was an employee at Custom Addition and it is believed he was the victim of a robbery. Witnesses observed Baekey backing out the door of the location with his hands raised in the air. Two black male suspects were observed coming out the door behind Baekey. Baekey then either fell or was pushed to the ground. One of the black male suspects then shot Baekey while he was on the ground. Both suspects were observed fleeing the area in a vehicle. The vehicle was possibly a green Volkswagen Jetta.
