Francis Scott Key Bridge Incident Updates

A building permit is required for all razing except for sheds under 120 square feet.

If the structure will be razed by burning, Fire Department approval is required. Contact the Baltimore County Fire Department to schedule a time for a controlled burn. If less than 50 percent of a building is being razed, an Alteration Permit is needed, not a Razing Permit.

Required Documents

You must provide the following when submitting your permit application.

  • If property is served by a well and septic system, a site plan must be provided that complies with the Ground Water Site Plan Requirements.
  • Rat Eradication Letter—As detailed in Bill Number 8-17, applications filed on and after March 20, 2017, for permits to demolish, raze, move or remove a building, in whole or in part, must include a statement of a certified pest control technician from a licensed pest control firm that "appropriate rat eradication measures have been taken and the premises are rat-free." If not included, a permit will not be issued. The statement must:
    • Be on pest control company letterhead in letter form indicating that the premises has been inspected, that appropriate rat-eradication measures have been taken by a Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) certified pest control applicator and that the premises is rat-free.
    • Include the property address, the date of inspection, the signature of the certified applicator and his or her MDA certification number.
