Francis Scott Key Bridge Incident Updates

Baltimore County provides Geographic Information System (GIS) maps and data to the public at no cost. GIS maps and data provide geospatial information that includes features, such as Planimetrics, topography, parcels, roads, buildings and bodies of water. GIS data can be downloaded from the GIS Data Portal and from our FTP site, and is available in multiple formats:

  • Adobe Reader (.pdf) – FTP only
  • ESRI File Geodatabase (.gdb)
  • ESRI Shapefile (.shp)
  • Generic CADD file export (.dxf) – Data Portal only
  • AutoCAD (.dwg)
  • Orthos (.sid and .jp2) – FTP only

GIS Data Portal

Map data, updated as often as every two weeks, can be downloaded for a specific area as follows:

  1. Accept the Warranty and Disclaimer below.
  2. Zoom to the area of interest or enter an address in the top right hand corner.
  3. Choose one of the icons in the top middle of the GIS Data Portal screen to select the desired data type.
  4. Select the layers you would like to extract.
  5. Select the file format.
  6. Press Extract and select Yes to save the file to a location of your choosing.
  7. Unzip the file.

Map data, updated semiannually, can be downloaded as countywide datasets as follows:

  1. Accept the Warranty and Disclaimer below.
  2. If you would like to view a PDF file:
    • Select the PDF directory.
    • Select the PDF for the area of interest.
  3. If you would like to download data in DWG, Geodatabase or Shapefile format:
    • Select the directory for the desired data type.
    • Depending on your browser, press Open to display the file or Save to save the file to a location of your choosing.
    • Unzip the file.
