The purpose of this informal Work Group is to engage in a stakeholder-driven discussion about Baltimore County’s Code Enforcement program intended to identify improvements to the program that will enable better service to the citizens of the County. Code Enforcement is charged with investigating code and zoning violations in Baltimore County. Trained inspectors follow and adhere to Baltimore County Code, International Residential Code and Life Safety Code.
Final Report
Read the final report issued by the Work Group based on the feedback received via the community survey.
Areas of Focus
Among other areas, the Work Group is expected to focus on the following aspects of Code Enforcement:
- Resources—Does Code Enforcement presently have adequate resources to deliver the level of service demanded by residents and the County Executive?
- Timelines—Related to the resource discussion, are the current timeframes to close service requests reasonable and in line with the best interest of the community?
- Administrative Hearing Process—Are hearings on code enforcement violations sufficiently accessible and transparent for the public?
- Vacant Property—Are there best practices or policies for reducing the number of vacant properties in neighborhoods, ensuring stronger accountability for property owners, and eliminating blight that Baltimore County should embrace?
