Cockeysville Senior Center

The Cockeysville Senior Center is unique because it is the only Baltimore County senior center that has a senior housing development and a fitness center located on its premises. This fitness center was the first "senior-friendly" fitness center to open in a Baltimore County senior center. The Cockeysville Senior Center offers membership to County residents aged 60 and older.

  • Accessible to public transportation, grocery stores and medical facilities

Programs and Activities

View a list of programs, activities and upcoming events in the most recent edition of the "Cockeysville Chronicle," the Cockeysville Senior Center's monthly newsletter. A bimonthly meeting is held to announce new classes and special programs.

  • Bridge, instructional and social 
  • Ceramicsan all-media art class 
  • Computer classes
  • Consumer education, health education and health screening programs 
  • Current events
  • Fitness classes
  • Nutrition education
  • Recreational programs, including miniature golf, pool and shuffleboard
  • Travel opportunities 

Community Projects

The Center Council sponsors several community projects, including:

  • Collection of nonperishable food items to make baskets for seniors in need
  • Knitting blankets and baby caps for area hospitals
  • Mailings for departmental and nonprofit organizations
  • A mitten tree
  • A pull tab collection for the Ronald McDonald House 

Center Connection Membership

The Center Connection Program is designed for individuals 60 years or older who need supportive services to participate in senior center programs, but do not need physical assistance or close supervision. Members include adults who:

  • Have a condition that limits some activities
  • Are independent in caring for their basic, physical needs, but lack opportunities to participate in enjoyable activities
  • Would like to meet people and participate in a senior center, but need special support and encouragement

The Center Connection Specialist is available to help individuals who require assistance adjusting to the center, as well as assistance to:

  • Meet new people
  • Choose activities and register for classes
  • Connect with community services, like CountyRide, and programs, like the Eating Together Nutrition program
